When you have to move house you have to think about everything. Wether you move to the other side of the country or only a few blocks away, you can leave nothing to chance.
I completely underestimated that moving house was so much work and having lived in this house for more than 40 years makes it even harder. Luckily, the distance between the old and the new house isn’t that far away: from Deurle to Sint-Martens-Latem.
You have to sort everything out and put it in boxes. You also have to part from a lot of things that bring up a lot of memories. And then you have those things that make you hesitate: should I keep them or throw them away? It is harder if you move out from a big house to a smaller one. Once you arrive in the new house, then the real work begins: unpack everything! All those boxes! Luckily I labeled all the boxes so I know what’s inside. During the first week we had to drive back and forth between the new house and the old one. With the help of my brother, sister and brother-in-law we managed to do everything in time. They helped me considerably moving all my stuff up stairs and they decorated my room, bathroom and office as well!
Now I have to get used to the new house, but it’s going good! I used to come and walk here often in the beautiful nature, certainly during spring and summer it is very nice out here.
I am happy I decided to stay in the same neighborhood. That way I can keep my old habits; doctor, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dentist and also the nice shops! All in all, the change isn’t that big and I like it to have moved to a different and more comfortable house after so many years.
